Hold responsibility for managing the engineering budget for the department and actively striving to improve the total cost of maintenance. Partnering with the Plant Manager, determining the asset strategy and development plan for the plant, improving maintenance standards and procedures. Develop and implement engineering projects, both capital and operational, that contribute towards achieving the business goals. Drive area KPIs towards improvement, aiming to reduce downtime on assets. Ensure the teams training is actively managed and applicable to roles within the team. Devise and develop planned audit schedules and ensure that they are implemented to meet Health, Safety & Environmental, statutory, quality and engineering requirements. Identifying and leading the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives. Working with other functional groups within the operations team to coordinate the provision of technical support Collaborating with consultants, suppliers and vendors to ensure services are provided within plan and specifications Ensuring all work is completed as scheduled to quality, HSE standards and on budget. Promote operational discipline and high performance in work execution and enhance the technical skill & knowledge of team members, ensuring they adhere to work standards and understand the purpose and functionality of critical controls relevant to their work. Your previous background in engineering or maintenance will see you well placed for the challenges of this role. To be successful you will demonstrate the following criteria: Essential Relevant qualifications in Engineering (HNC or higher depending on other experience) with at least 5 years experience in a supervisory or technical role. Knowledge and experience of Health, Safety & Environmental legislation, and its application in a manufacturing environment. Extensive plant engineering experience Detailed knowledge of complex processes, the associated machinery and control systems Well-developed communication and relationship building skills and an ability to work with various stakeholders from diverse backgrounds; An understanding of risk management, auditing processes and experience in undertaking appropriate actions based on audit findings; Strong root cause analysis and problem solving skills with a collaborative approach to finding practical solutions; Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to resolve conflict and influence outcomes. Experience of leading diverse teams and developing individuals into future leaders. Strong MS Office skills. Experience with a CMMS. Desirable Experience of Vacuum Induction Furnaces, Vacuum Arc Remelting Furnaces, Electro-Slag Remelting Furnaces & Heat Treatment Furnaces Plant engineering experience with three phase systems, AC and DC equipment and PLC experience of Allen-Bradley and Siemens systems. A good appreciation of the steel process route, and how engineering parameters can affect the steel supply and quality.
